Papillon Echo Beach

The front desk staff really helped me out on my last night. After 10 pm I suddenly got a red, swollen, hot and itchy rash on my neck from a reaction to UV rays. I needed to see a doctor, and a staff member called around for an emergency room doctor. The first quoted 1000k, but they quickly found another who charged 30k, with medication extra. The doctor arrived in about ten minutes, gave me an emergency shot and ointment, and by nearly 1 am my symptoms were much better. I'm very grateful for that help. The hotel itself is generally nice, and breakfast was good. My room was toward the back, so the bar across the street wasn't much of an issue, though it can be noisy. The lighting felt a little dim to me, even if others might like the atmosphere. Huge thanks to the front desk staff member, a young man with a round face, short hair, and round eyes. I highly recommend the hotel.

The location is great, and the maintenance staff and trainee were awesome. Still, I'm extremely disappointed with the accommodation and both desk staff. I found the desk staff condescending when I asked for help. I later spoke to the trainee who witnessed it and encouraged him to handle things differently if he reaches a position of power. Sending my best to him. The listing shows 2.700.000, then offers nearly 80% off to draw people in. That price feels absurd, and the discounted rate was only just above what I'd consider acceptable in high season. As a former hotelier, I'm embarrassed by that approach. The room felt much smaller in person, the king bed felt a lot like a queen, and the “patio” was about 30 inches of tile with two chairs. The bathroom is outdoors, so use the toilet before sunset if you don't want mosquitoes getting a free meal. Scam. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone I care about.

The breakfast called a buffet had very few choices and none of the usual things like cheese, sausage, or ham and bacon. They also limit you to two eggs, which I found ridiculous. The Grab bikes refused to come to the property, so we had to walk about 300m to the nearest pickup spot. My room's AC was leaking too. I booked through the travel app because of the big discount, then quickly understood why it was discounted. I moved out after two nights and won't stay here again.

The pool area has been such a relaxing place to unwind after exploring, and the staff have been warm, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. Papilion Echobeach Hotel has made a great base for our time in Canggu. It's only a short walk to Echo Beach, but the hotel still feels tucked away and peaceful. The design is modern and stylish while staying cozy and comfortable. Our room has been bright, clean, and thoughtfully arranged with everything we've needed. It's been a lovely experience.
