Purnama Guesthouse

Purnama Guesthouse was a peaceful, clean base for our two nights in Canggu. The garden was nicely kept, and our room felt airy and spacious. The amenities were basic, but it was comfortable enough to rest after long days out. We enjoyed the area's laid-back feel, with surf schools, cafés, surf shops, and a mix of expats and tourists. We also went to Sanur and Uluwatu during our stay, where we watched the Kecak dance at sunset and had a delicious seafood dinner by the ocean. Lovely stay, good location, and I'd come back.

The location was handy, close to the beach and lots of restaurants, but the room had a few issues. The bathroom smelled bad, there was no fridge in the room or bottled water, and the air conditioner was noisy. The shared kitchen had few utensils and one decent frying pan, but no toaster. Its communal fridge was full of leftovers that seemed to have been there a while. There was also loud construction starting around 7:30 in the morning, with hammering and drilling.

It's generally very quiet and out of the way, and just a four-minute walk to the beach. We rented a bike from them. It was old and beat up, but that didn't bother us, and it was the best price in Bali. The private bathroom was kind of outside, enclosed by walls but with no roof, which was pretty cool. There was only one plug in the room, across from the bed, but we were out most of the time so it didn't cause a problem. The power went out briefly on the first day; the backup generator came on quickly, but it was low, so the AC barely worked for a few hours and the room got hot. The owner brought us a fan, which helped a bit. Regular power came back after a few hours, and we had no more issues. Would recommend.

A lovely guesthouse run by a kind, thoughtful family. The rooms have air conditioning and get cleaned daily. It's super close to the beach, and I strongly recommend it.
