The pool was a real plus, huge and good for swimming laps, and the staff were nice. I had asked about paying for a room upgrade, but nobody followed up. My Superior room was spacious, though at this price it didn’t feel like good value, especially compared with cheaper options elsewhere in Sanur. The two room access doors need replacing. A room safe would help, and the curtains should block more of the morning light.

The grounds are beautiful and the staff are nice, which makes the noise issues a shame. Small children are allowed, so reading by the pool in peace wasn’t possible for me. The walls are paper thin and you can hear every word from the neighbours, just as they can hear you. I can’t see myself returning. This could make more money as an adults-only place, because friendly staff smiles don’t make up for screaming kids and loud Russians.

I first came here alone with my two children, then returned 25 years later with my husband. It’s a wonderful, very quiet and peaceful hotel among beautiful gardens, and only a short walk from Senur beach/Harbour, shops and restaurants. Yesterday, hotel driver Yanne took us to a market, rice fields, Ubub, Monkey Forest, temples and a waterfall. It cost 700,000 IDR, and he was incredibly friendly and accommodating.

I was stressed when my flight got cancelled, but the staff at Bumi Ayu Hotel kindly made it easy for me to add a night, and I didn’t even need to change rooms. Thank you so much. The hotel is lovely, with big rooms and a beautiful pool. It’s close to the beach, restaurants and spas, but set back from the main strip, so it stays quiet.

This is a peaceful place in the heart of Sanur, with Dutch Colonial architecture, spacious cool rooms, deep verandahs and lush tropical gardens. The large pool is lovely for a daytime dip, and breakfast in the morning is great. It’s an older accommodation facility, so don’t expect a sterile resort feel. My only suggestions are better bathroom towels and an improvement to the patchy WiFi. I’ll definitely be back.
