Hotel Candra Adigraha

There’s lots of lovely space outside the rooms, including balconies on every floor, and the hotel itself looks beautiful. It’s only a few minutes’ walk from the pet market. The room was decent, with clean bedsheets, though the walls could use a better clean, especially around the spider webs. For the price, I wasn’t too bothered by that. The WiFi wasn’t good, and I was disappointed there was no sink in the bathroom. When we stayed a second time, the toilet flush wasn’t working, so do check it. The room was big, but the bathroom was really bad.

I booked one night for two through the booking app and messaged ahead to say I’d arrive late because of my flight. When I got there around 4 a.m., they told me the hotel was full and the room reserved for me had been given away. I was in a city I didn’t know, with nowhere obvious to go at that hour. After I asked, their only offer was to sleep at reception until morning. By 8:30 a.m. nobody had come to explain what happened or even apologize. If you want to feel treated like you don’t matter, this place is perfect. Greetings to the owner, and remember, what goes around comes around.

I didn’t expect much from an OYO hotel, so I wasn’t planning to leave a bad review, but this was my worst experience here. At 285k a night, it wasn’t especially cheap for all the problems. The room and shared areas were old and really dirty, with stains and mold everywhere. There was no WiFi or bedsheets, no towels, and very limited sanitary facilities. The aircon remote was kept by staff, so I couldn’t use it. The old ceiling fan looked dangerous, so I left it off. If you’re used to heat, that might be manageable, but the dust made the room hard to breathe in. The staff weren’t kind or helpful either. My husband was hospitalized, leaving me to handle the luggage alone across three floors. They watched me struggle, and when I asked for help, they said no and carried on doing nothing. I definitely wouldn’t return or recommend it. If you’re short on options, there’s probably somewhere better and cheaper in the same area.

The room rate seemed to depend on who they were looking at. There was a printed price sheet at the counter with a different amount, and the staff acted like they didn’t understand English when I pointed it out. They can charge what they want, but they should keep the price consistent for everyone. Apart from that main issue, the place is nice, the internet connection is reliable, and the area is quiet and peaceful.
