Palette Signature Hotel

The attached restaurant, Soul in a Bowl, was the one bright spot. It's run separately, and the food and staff were amazing. The location was excellent and the price was cheap, but management didn't seem to care about basic upkeep or guests, despite what they said and promised. I wouldn't recommend staying here, since getting a reasonably comfortable room feels like a gamble. My family and I booked several rooms over two weeks, and 4 out of 5 had similar problems. We asked to move from ours because the aircon didn't work and the bathroom had a lot of mould. They kept saying for several days that they'd let us know when we could switch, but rooms were coming and going and it never happened. We had to buy a pedestal fan for $30 to keep cool at night, and bought mould cleaner ourselves to try to remove some mould from the shower and kill bacteria. We'd booked a pool-access room but got one upstairs. The bedding was changed only once in two weeks. When the rooms were cleaned, the same stained sheets and pillowcases stayed on the beds. The pool was okay during the first week, then filled with algae and other stuff. I only realized after getting in. Staff said it had been cleaned that morning, but one end was covered in green. I got a rash all over my arms that took a full week to start improving even with medication. I'm glad I warned the rest of my family not to get in. There were mouldy bathrooms, aircons that kept stopping in 30+ degree heat, fridges that barely cooled, and stained pillows and sheets. The pool was full of algae, and promises to fix things didn't lead anywhere.

The staff were professional, friendly, and helpful, and check-in and checkout were quick and easy. I had a wonderful stay and thought it was good value for money, with comfort and excellent service. Its location is excellent and very convenient, with plenty of restaurants and cafes within walking distance, plus popular attractions and public facilities nearby. It was easy to find different kinds of food.

We had to leave and find another hotel because staying there was impossible. Getting a refund has been a nightmare, and it's still pending. We waited for hours, made endless calls, and got no solution. Staff weren't helpful, and although they said the hotel might close, the manager did nothing to fix things or help guests. There was no water, the air conditioning kept cutting out, and there was no breakfast despite it being advertised. The room smelled strongly of mould, so we couldn't sleep, and the pool was dirty and clearly not maintained. The hotel was basically not operational. It shouldn't be taking guests. Save your time, money, and health, and don't book this place.

We stayed here twice because it was cheap and the room had the basics and a bit more. The refillable water dispenser is a nice touch for reducing plastic, though it was broken during our second stay. There are lots of restaurants and shops nearby, and the little fridge in the room was handy. The pool looked really nice. We had too much going on to use it, but would have liked to.
