I spent over six weeks at Urbanview Hotel Wayan Mansion in Denpasar and found it clean, comfortable, and convenient for a medium-term stay. My single-occupancy room was on the third floor, with a comfortable bed, a private bathroom with a sink and shower, and adjustable hot and cold water. There was a 32-inch Xiaomi Smart TV connected to the internet, a small two-level refrigerator with a drink shelf, a work desk, a small multipurpose table, and a medium wardrobe. The staff were friendly and easy to communicate with, and the Wi-Fi worked well. Laundry costs extra. Each floor has a free drinking water refill station, and there’s parking for cars and motorcycles. There are also quite a few dogs on the nearby streets, so you need to be okay with that 😅. The hotel is behind the Governor’s and Legislative Offices of Bali Province, and a short walk from one of the city's best-known open fields, where you can walk, run, or do sports. The rate felt a little pricey, but fair for such a strategic spot.

We were given damp towels, and the noise at night made it impossible to sleep. The whole room smelled musty and dirty, with heaps of dust and grime behind the bed and beside the cabinets. Every counter was dusty too. The toilet and sink were slimy and clearly hadn't been washed with a cloth or cleaning products in a long time. There was a huge amount of mold under the shower, plain to see when crouching down. It looked like the shower hadn't been cleaned since last year. Definitely the dirtiest place I've stayed in Bali. Wouldn't recommend it.

The staff were friendly and helpful, but I was still disappointed: after I asked them to change the sheets and towels and left the sign out, they didn't do it. The sheets were already old and stained when I arrived, so I had to ask staff to replace them, and the floor mat was torn up and shouldn't have been left in a guest room. I wanted to like the place for its location and value, but the photos on bookingcom look very different from the real thing. The sewage smell was awful, even in the big open parking area, and it got into the room too, especially the bathroom.

I have used booking for at least nine years in South America, Central America, the USA, Europe, and Southeast Asia, and I've never stayed anywhere so neglected or unhealthy. We knew from the reviews it wouldn't be great, but chose it to be near Inmigrations. The black mold smell hit us as soon as we entered. The AC didn't work at all, not even the fan. The manager said it “took time,” so we waited. Then we found more than five half-dead cockroaches, hundreds of stains of questionable origin on the walls, including what looked like crushed insects, blood, and brown marks, and mouse droppings on and inside the bed and on the pillows. That was it for us. One manager kindly offered us another room, which we refused because we didn't want to stay and risk our health. The other was arrogant, saying they wouldn't refund us and to contact booking. We said we needed proof that we weren't staying for obvious reasons, and he rudely told us to do what we wanted, that he didn't care. Please don't risk your health here. It isn't worth the money, isn't the cheapest, has no water to offer, and there's nothing around the neighborhood. There are plenty of places a little farther from the immigrations that are totally worth it.

The pictures on booking websites make the room look bigger than it is. Mine was okay clean, but the bathroom was very dirty, as if it only gets cleaned once a month. I started in a downstairs room on the shorter side of the building. During the day it was dark, since the window sat too deep to let in much light. I moved to the longer side, which got more daylight, but at night streetlights came strongly through the small high windows.
