We’d still go back in a heartbeat, even after all the check-in problems and the stinky toilet. The beach and setting are incredible, the wave is amazing, and you can paddle out or take a boat for £2. There’s a new reggae bar up the beach that’s great for relaxing in the evening, and not much else around, which suited us. If you can live with the pure insanity of the place, it could be one of the best places you ever visit. It has new management, so I hope things improve. We booked two deluxe sea-view rooms next to each other for our children and us. The hotel said they were double-booked, left us in the lobby for several hours, and tried to claim we’d booked two standard rooms instead. We were eventually put in two rooms, one above the other, but not what we’d reserved. It was awkward with the honeymoon couple who had taken our children’s room, and we ended up sharing a sea-view terrace. Apparently this happens often. It was an appalling welcome. We’ve travelled a lot and don’t expect much, and we’d seen the reviews and assumed people were expecting too much. We usually only leave good reviews, but this place is a flipping shambles in one of the most beautiful places on earth. The toilet kept failing because the old, worn flush mechanism sticks. They’d fix it, then ten minutes later it happened again. It seems like a £5 fix, so it’s strange they don’t sort it out. We took the lid off and flushed manually. The water was intermittent too, apparently because they’ve been trying to fix the supply for months or years. The shower drains stink. A wet hand towel over the drain helped, but staff removed it while fixing the toilet, and eventually you kind of get used to the nasty smell in the bedroom. The staff are nice, and the head honcho was clearly trying his best while sick, but he clearly had covid and passed it on to us, ruining the next two weeks of our trip in komodo. The place looks lovely, and there’s little choice on the beach, but the customer service at check-in was awful.

The food was really good, and the staff were awesome. I was unwell for a couple of days, and they took great care of me, even driving me to the doctor twice. Tandy was especially helpful and made everything easy and enjoyable. We loved seeing Coco, the local dog, in the mornings too. Such a legend, always happy to see us. And it’s a perfect spot for surfing.

The room was clean and everything worked really well. The location is perfect, and the staff were helpful with every request and took good care of us.

The garden overlooking the ocean and the beautiful view were highlights for us. We stayed two nights, and the room was very clean, with fresh towels and bed linen, hot water, and all the promised amenities. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the manager was always nearby if we had questions. We really recommend the stay.
