Breathe Villa Meno

We had a beautiful four night stay at Breathe, with a comfortable bed, a private pool, and a lovely, easy ten minute ride to the beach. Breakfast was hot and filling. The service made the stay, though. Adakz organised everything for us, including bike rental, and greeted us with the biggest smile every day. He’s a real credit to Breathe. Thanks so much to him and the team. We’d definitely stay again if we wanted somewhere peaceful on Meno.

The breakfasts were great, and Adakz and the team made us feel welcome from the minute we arrived. They were attentive and helped arrange all sorts of things for our stay: snorkelling, fishing, horse riding, and a waterfall tour on Lombok. I’d highly recommend it if you want a relaxing stay with a host who really looks after you.

The pool is tiny, more like a puddle, and nothing like the photos. Getting to the sea was also a pain: the hotel is far from it, and the paths were muddy and impossible with luggage unless you relied on overworked horses pulling carts. For the same price, there are much better hotels right by the beach. The mosquitoes were unbearable. Repellent didn’t stop us getting bitten constantly, and the semi-open bathroom meant even using the toilet brought more bites. My boyfriend had an allergic reaction and needed a clinic. The shower and sink water was salty and rough on our hair and skin. After a few days my hair felt dry and damaged, and my skin was irritated. We were woken every morning at 4 AM by extremely loud religious chanting from a nearby mosque, sometimes for as long as 40 minutes, so we couldn’t get a good night’s sleep. The manager, Adax, came across as strangely superior right from the start. He made me move chairs with my heavy backpack just because I was sitting in the one he wanted. His manner felt artificial and sometimes arrogant. Toward the end he disappeared completely. Some staff were using one of the villas themselves and drinking beer instead of looking after guests, and often nobody was at reception when we needed help in our last few days. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere. This place isn’t worth it.

Breathe Villa was a lovely place to stay, quiet, beautiful, exceptionally clean, and really well maintained. The host and team were kind and looked after us so well, with incredibly friendly service and everything we could need. The Warung right around the corner is great, too.
