Meno Heaven

The location was great, with easy access to everything, but the internet wasn't working. We needed it for work, and the listing advertised 72 MB speed, yet the hosts hadn't mentioned the outage. There was no hot water either, though that seems common on the island.

The owners were nice and brought clean sheets when I asked. You can rent a bike for 30.000 idr a day, which is cheaper than elsewhere. The internet was pretty slow, so be patient. The bungalows are nice but basic. Breakfast is either an omelette or a pancake, so you'll probably want to add some food. There's AC, but it still gets very, very hot indoors during the day. Personally, the worst part was getting a huge allergy all over my body from bedbugs. It took two weeks to clear up. NB, bedbugs aren't unusual, they're pretty much everywhere, even at home.

The bungalows were roomy and decent, and the Wi-Fi worked, but the shower only ran cold. There were few other facilities, and we had to leave the property to get drinking water. It faces an empty lot where friendly cows showed up now and then. The location was mediocre, and our stay was fine, but I wouldn't recommend it. The Google Maps marker gave us the impression we'd be nearer the beach than we actually were. We arrived to find nobody there; after half an hour someone came to check us in and said he'd been at the beach.

A green garden and a swing add to this homestay's appeal, and I hardly had any trouble with mosquitoes. Iwan made sure I had what I needed and cooked a really good banana pancake for breakfast. The room was very good, with a big bathroom and refreshing water. Highly recommended.
