Gili La Boheme

Such a fun, social hostel with a good vibe, especially if you’re travelling solo. The staff are really open-minded and like chatting and getting to know you. The rooms are basic but clean. I picked one without air conditioning, just fans, and that worked perfectly.

Breakfast runs from 7am to 4pm, haha, and there are pancakes and fruit. The Wi-Fi is really good, although you can’t connect in every room. There’s also a small bar at reception and group activities. The hostel is close to beaches and party spots, but far enough away for a decent sleep. You’ll hear the mosque around the corner. It’s a unique hostel in a good way. The staff are really friendly and make you feel at home. I made lots of brothers and sisters there. The beds were clean, with only three people in my room, and the bathroom had enough capacity. Staff helped with questions, needs, bookings, and advice. Don’t expect luxury, but I was comfortable and stayed almost two weeks. I’d come back anytime.

There were social events every night, so meeting people was easy, and I had a great time. I ended up staying almost two weeks because the atmosphere made it hard to leave. The guys working there were really friendly without being intrusive, and as a solo female traveller, I felt welcome and safe.

The rooms are solid and have air conditioning. Pancakes are available 24/7, and around 6pm there’s a daily trip with the whole hostel and their sister one, La Boheme. We went to a bonfire one evening and watched the sunset another. The staff were the friendliest I’ve ever had anywhere. From the moment you arrive, they say “welcome home” and treat you like family. One of them surfed with us, showed us around for free, and became a good friend. Shout out to Anton, sorry if I got your name wrong. If you want a phenomenal hostel experience, this place is amazing. I’d choose it over the Hilton or Marriott.
