Palmeto Village

We asked the staff to call a taxi for 9:30 AM so we could catch the 10 AM ferry. They didn't even try until 9:50 AM, which was too late, and we missed the ferry. The rest of our stay at Palmeto Village was awful too. The shower gel smelled like something had died, and we barely had hot water during the whole stay. Doors wouldn't close properly, there were holes in the floor, and the sheets were stained. The pool deck was falling apart, and the sunbeds were worn and uncomfortable. A truly unpleasant experience. Wouldn't recommend.

The place is isolated, and at night the road leading to the hotel has no lighting. It's also far from the main market where things are happening. The hotel looks nothing like its photos, and I wouldn't suggest booking it. I'd choose the main harbour area instead.

The staff were the one bright spot. They were careful and helpful, but the rest of the place felt neglected. It was dirty, outdated, and in need of renovation, with broken decking and no TV. The owner was absent too. We booked through Booking because the photos and reviews looked good, so arriving was a shock. Maybe it was nice when it was new, but now the high price makes even less sense. I’d give it one star. It’s nothing like a four-star place.

The manager was incredibly helpful and even arranged pony and cart taxis for us. We had planned to stay a few days while attending a wedding nearby, but the larger group’s accommodation had problems and everyone had to move. When we explained, he was happy to let us leave and gave us a full refund. The rooms were clean and okay, though the outside of the timber shacks looked run down. It wasn’t what we expected and seems better suited to younger guests or backpackers.
