The road to Uluwatu is a problem: it’s very far, narrows to one lane, and traffic can’t get through whether you’re on a bike or not. A gate between the two towns closes around 12, so you’re stuck if you aren’t back by then. Management was also hard to reach. I only managed to contact someone after trying several times, and they seemed hesitant to speak with me. For what we paid, my girlfriend and I were disappointed. The listing photos are fabrications, and the rooms are either dilapidated or stripped down to a bed and a vault. Ants moved around our room in troops, the WiFi didn’t work, and there were no accommodations suited to guests. Ice was unavailable, which is perfectly uncommon in Bali. Every other hotel we stayed at, even lower rated hostels, supplied it. Don’t count on breakfast either, despite what they advertise. They do provide free pool towels, which is a plus. Brothers bungalow boasts a three-star average, but I’d rate it two. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

There’s plenty of space around the property, and the staff were friendly and supportive. The bungalows are spacious and close to the beach. I’m not bothered by roosters or dogs, and the stay met my expectations for a typical Bali bungalow at this price. I enjoyed the spacious surroundings. The bungalows looked a bit worn and weren’t very clean. I didn’t see anyone clean the pool during the week I was there, which should be standard. For a five-star rating, I’d expect cleaner houses and maybe a small fridge for chilled drinks.

Balangan Beach is less than a five-minute walk away, so the location is perfect. The bungalows were cosy, comfortable, and clean. Staff speak little English, so knowing some Bahasa would help with communication, which could be tricky at times. I highly recommend it!

My stay started off really pleasantly, and the staff were kind and helpful. Then a mouse got into my room through small holes in the bungalow. It ate my clothes and left droppings all over the room and my things. It was disgusting and awful. The owner washed my clothes after I told them they needed to do something, but the clothes that were ripped and eaten were a total loss, and I wasn’t compensated. She hasn’t even replied to my messages.

The thatched-roof bungalows gave us a chance to experience Balinese culture, and we really enjoyed our stay. Bike rentals were available right at the resort, and Balangan Beach, great for surfing, is a short 10-minute walk away. Breakfast was included and nice, though the portions were small. For the quality and price, it’s a great resort, though the three-star rating seems right.
