The Hita Uluwatu

We spent nine nights here for my graduation, mainly because it’s so close to Udayana University main campus. The studio room is massive, while the deluxe room is a bit cramped. Staff are friendly, and the room facilities are pretty impressive and convenient for a longer stay. There aren’t many halal food options or markets for groceries, and the area has lots of mosquitoes. For the price, our stay was acceptable and totally worth it.

On checkout day the hotel’s water supply stopped completely. We told the staff and asked what could be done, but there was no quick fix and the response felt slow. We couldn’t even flush the toilet, and had to head to the airport without a shower. This came after a pleasant start: they kindly let us check in early after our journey, and the compact room was clean, well kept, and had the basic amenities we needed. We stayed two nights. I hope management uses this as feedback to improve the facilities and emergency response.

I’d seen some complaints on Google, so I didn’t expect much on my first visit to Bali or stay at this hotel. Turns out I had a very pleasant experience. The room was a little small and there was some noise, but it was comfortable overall and had a mini kitchen. The staff were friendly, especially Enjel, who was so kind and helpful throughout my stay.

I left a day early after staying here for three weeks. The rooms look nice at first, but closer up it’s clear they weren’t built well. Ants were everywhere except, thankfully, the bed: on the walls, behind the TV, and throughout the kitchen whether food was left open or not. I was too grossed out to use the kitchen. They even put moth balls under the shower drain to repel them. Staff were very apologetic and good about coming to spray, which reduced the ants for a few days, but they were still around everywhere. Several times a day, a really mouldy, sulfurous smell came from the bathroom and filled the room. The sliding doors don’t close all the way, so mosquitoes and flies can get in. There was loud drilling and construction during the day with no notice, and there’s no sound insulation, so we could hear that and loud, rowdy guest groups. I don’t recommend this place at all.
