IPSA Villa

The morning yoga was a real highlight. The instructor chatted with us and offered prompts and adjustments so my mum could take part comfortably. We also loved how the staff gave us help when we needed it, including transport and ideas for visiting Munduk, while still leaving us room to ourselves. We were there last month for my mother-in-law’s birthday, and everyone made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, helping with our bags and bringing a much-needed drink after our early start. Our room was clean, the air conditioning worked well, and it was pretty quiet. The food was great, especially dessert, and the team were lovely. I’d recommend Villa Ipsa for the surrounding nature and, above all, its staff.

The room and bathroom had mold, and the bathroom was very dirty. It was also hard to communicate with the staff because they barely speak English. The shuttle to Munduk runs just once a day; otherwise you have to pay extra. 150.000 for one way felt like a lot compared with other taxi prices.

I’m still waiting for the refund they said they’d arrange, after spending the last two weeks trying to follow up with them. They kept pointing me back to the booking terms, and the whole thing has left me feeling let down by their service. I cancelled just 24 hours after booking, once I saw negative reports about bedbugs at the property. As an older traveller, I couldn’t risk being exposed and having my trip compromised, especially after two independent travellers had reported problems the week before. I had only just booked, so there was still time for them to take another booking. It’s a real shame, but this has been pretty appalling service, on top of the hygiene concern.

The staff were wonderful, and the view is incredible. We found the rooms clean and quiet, and the food was good too. Such a lovely place, I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Bali!
