Even a two-star hotel with a jasmine feel can seem like a lower-class boarding house.

It claims to be a two-star hotel, but feels like a boarding house. Jasmine twice over.

The kids were scared because the place was dark, and I spent nearly an hour waiting. I’d booked well in advance and arrived around 7:30 hoping to rest with them, but the address led to an alley that seemed to be just a car driveway. A man at the gate asked if I had booked, then didn’t help and disappeared into some room. Clothes were drying outside the door, and when I was told to contact the receptionist, it took 15 minutes for him to come out. There was only a dog trying to get through the door. This felt like a boarding house, not an inn. I complained to Agoda right away and eventually got my money back. Be careful: a lot of Oyo listings seem to be boarding houses rather than inns.

The security guard was friendly, and there’s a hot water dispenser. I found the place comfortable, though there were cigarette butts on the clothesline. If you spot a butt in your room that isn’t yours, I’d report it, since you might otherwise be fined for it.
