The people working here were my favorite part. It felt so good chatting with everyone, thanks so much. We loved staying at the Mudru. The rooms are roomy, and the pool area and restaurant are both wonderful. We ate there often, and the breakfast was awesome with plenty to choose from, as was the general menue. My only small gripe was some trouble with the warm water.

The staff, especially the male team members, were incredibly warm and went out of their way to make our stay memorable. The female receptionist felt less accommodating and didn’t reflect the same Balinese hospitality. Our stay at Mudru was pleasant overall, but several things need improvement. The resort is reached by climbing a flight of stairs from the main road, which could be hard for guests with mobility concerns or heavy bags. The massage itself was enjoyable, but the room is right beside the guest rooms, and the session was interrupted by a loud hum that sounded like a generator and by people talking loudly outside. Breakfast was underwhelming, particularly because the listing called it “great breakfast included.” The set menu has five options, including two vegetarian and healthier choices. The continental plate is pancakes, bread, fruit, and juice. Balinese is fried rice or noodles, fruit, and a banana dessert. American includes two eggs, a small sausage, three baby potatoes, a tomato slice, a strip of bacon, bread, and juice or fruit. There’s decent variety, but the portions left us hungry. Some towels had visible tears and makeup stains. I understand certain stains are hard to remove, but it raised concerns about cleanliness and hygiene. Everything else was good, though this feels like a recurring pattern at Pramana resorts. Whether it’s cost cutting or inconsistent service, it seems corners are being cut in several areas. After this stay, I’m not sure I’d choose a Pramana property again.

Mudru is a beautiful property, but it’s small and feels more like a villa than a resort. Calling it a resort feels misleading. We loved the pool and greenery, and the location was okay, though a bit far from Ubud’s commercial center. Gojek and Grab were easy to order, and the laundry service was good. The room design was nice, but for a relatively new property, I expected better upkeep in the rooms and bathrooms. Staff were very nice and willing to help solve things, and we appreciated that, but service quality needs to improve. Cleanliness was the biggest problem. The sheets and towels were stained and sometimes smelled bad. We asked for replacements, but each set they brought was stained too, so we eventually gave up asking. It seemed they were washing them in cold water like regular laundry. I worried they weren’t being properly sanitized by boiling, washing at high temperature, or bleaching to remove germs. I was afraid to check the mattress. It was very uncomfortable, gave us back pain, and left us feeling more tired than when we arrived. We didn’t rest well during the week we stayed. Every room we checked smelled of mould, damp, or mustiness, including the bathrooms. We requested a room change when we arrived and looked at all of them, but they all smelled bad. We had no choice but to burn incense and put up with it. We had allergies, waking every day with blocked noses, sneezing, and red eyes. The bathrooms didn’t seem properly cleaned in any of the rooms, including the shower glass, sink, and surrounding areas. Breakfast was okay, but the rest of the menu was mediocre. The internet was unstable most of the time. The pool looked great, but we didn’t use it, partly because the sunbeds were often left out in the rain and smelled horrible. There’s a lot of room to improve the cleaning of the rooms.

The calm, local feel around the hotel was a real highlight, and Nada was especially kind and helpful, always cheerful. We had a great stay. It’s about 8 km from central Ubud, and our walk there took around an hour and a half. We enjoyed it, though it may not suit anyone who doesn’t like walking. Five stars just for Nada!

We ate breakfast and dinner there every day, and the food was fantastic. Definitely try the Nasi Goreng and Mei Goreng. The rooms are a good size for the price, though some of the fittings and appliances could use maintenance. Everyone was polite and kind, and Nada took great care of us throughout. The scooters for rent were well maintained too. I’d consider staying here again.
