White Penny Hostel

This hostel turned out to be a hidden gem. I only found White Penny by accident after my other hostel sprayed fabric softener and the smell was too much, so I had to move. I didn’t expect much when I first saw the dorm, since hostel pictures can be deceiving, but it looked like the Hostelworld photos. They give you a complimentary water bottle when you book a room. The AC was perfect, the room felt open, and there was lots of backpack storage secured by your access card. The bed was big and comfy. The whole place has a cute rustic Bali design, down to the details. If you like a cute boutique hostel, this could be for you. It’s suited to a relaxing, chill stay. Party people might not like it unless they want a couple of quiet days to recover from a hangover.

I spent five nights there. It was one of the cleanest, calmest hostels I’ve stayed at in Bali, with amazing showers and a comfortable bed. There could be a bit more social space, but it’s a chill hostel. Reception even held a letter for me until I picked it up later. Thanks very much!

White Penny Hostel in Seminyak has a modern look and thoughtful touches. Smart card access works for both the doors and lockers, which felt convenient and secure. The dorms are roomy and well planned. Getting to the upper bunks by a small staircase is easier than using a ladder, and gives you a little more privacy too. The furnishings, lockers and hangers all have a clean, contemporary style. Washrooms stayed spotless and well maintained during my visit. There’s also an in-house café with tasty food, handy when you don’t want to head out for every meal. The beach is about a five minute walk away. This is a quiet hostel, with no live events or social activities, so it didn’t really work for me as a place to meet other travelers. If you’re after parties and lively interaction in Bali, you may want somewhere with more going on. For a peaceful stay with clean facilities, modern comforts and beach access in a central area, it’s a great fit.

The rooms were very clean, the drinks really nice and the staff very helpful. It’s worth the price. Part of the place was under construction, so it’ll be even better once that’s finished. Choose it, you won’t regret it.
