The access road is extremely steep, narrow enough that a car and scooter can't pass each other, and in poor condition. Even getting a drink was a problem: the remote hotel had no bottled water to buy, so we had to brave that road. At 4am, jeeps started collecting guests for their climbs and revving loudly right outside, making sleep impossible. Inside, the facilities were filthy. The bed was disgusting, doors didn't shut properly, and the refrigerator didn't work, so food and drinks couldn't be stored safely. Exposed, frayed electrical outlets also seemed like a serious fire and electrocution risk. I became severely ill from the food served there, which suggests very poor hygiene and preparation. The staff told us they work 12 hours a day, six days a week. Half are unpaid interns doing those shifts without a salary; the paid staff, they said, get at most $120 USD per month. This place was a nightmare, dangerous, unethical, and completely unacceptable.

Wayan was so kind when he took us up Mt Batur, and he explained a lot about the area. The mountain location has stunning views, and the pool, heated by hot water from the volcano, was a relaxing place to unwind. Many thanks! 🙏

We went up mt Batur with the hotel's guide, Nyoman, and are grateful for all his help. The staff were friendly, helpful, and supplied sprays to ease the fly problem. Flies are everywhere in this area, so I don't blame the hotel, and the business is well maintained. Our room was clean, spacious, and felt fresh. The hot pool and its stunning view were a real treat. Just one small request, please add rubbish bins to the rooms :) Definitely recommend!

We hiked up with Wayan at sunrise, and it was amazing. There are flies, but that's just part of the region. The service was great, and they can shuttle you up and down the road if you want to visit restaurants. A perfect base for a night or two to hike and see the caldera, with a hot spring pool to enjoy as well.

The views were insanely beautiful, and the rooms were clean. Staff were so nice and accommodating, and I loved the hot spring pool. Lovely stay, and I'd come back. Thank you!! 👌
