The owners are very friendly, and there’s plenty of parking. Room choices are quite affordable, with a pool and restaurant on site. The hotel sits on the main road to Trunyan and the hot springs, near the lake with views of Mount Batur. Guides and drivers bringing guests to stay here can also use the rooms.

There’s a spacious, tidy garden with swings, and the rooms are clean, though the pillows are hard. TV quality depends on the room: some have an older analogue set that gets only one channel, while others have better digital TVs. The restaurant closes at 7 pm.

Really poor service. I locked my room key inside and asked for a spare, but the guy said he didn’t have one because the owner had taken it home. It was 11 pm, apparently too late to get it. He tried keys from other rooms, then gave up and went to sleep, leaving me there.

The lake view is great, and the hotel is close to everything. There are different types of rooms and the hotel works well. The restaurant is open all day, but serves Indonesian food only. Staff and owners get full marks.

This is a cheap, no-frills place, and you get what you pay for. The rooms are very basic, with no luxury, and cats live in the ceiling. There’s no ATM, payment is cash only, and online platforms aren’t accepted. The service was okay, but we had trouble settling the food bill with one attendant. We were also told breakfast was included, then suddenly told it wasn’t. I rated it two stars because by Western standards it’s really a one-star hotel, not three.
