Kuta Ardenia Residence

The location is quiet and good, which is about all I liked. Unit #15 needs major renovation: the fridge leaks, and the bedroom bathrooms are very old and smelly. I thought this might be a nice residence, but it's too pricey for how dated it is. There's no facility at all, and the swimming pool doesn't feel safe. I wouldn't recommend it.

The morning we left, several housekeeping staff suddenly appeared, pressed us for payment, and hurried us out. That was quite something after we'd waited hours for the room on arrival. Before we could go, a housekeeper came in to check whether we'd taken anything. She kept asking about the pillows. I asked her to leave at least six times, but she wouldn't until I raised my voice. Then she started crying, and I did too. It was awful. I gave her a $10 tip because I felt bad, but as we drove away my son saw her laughing, so I don't know if she was really upset. Who sends housekeeping in to check whether pillows have been stolen? I've requested a refund for what we paid. We were meant to stay six nights, but left after one. We spent that night trying to arrange somewhere else to stay and transport. Although Booking.com had confirmed our reservation, nobody knew about it when we arrived. Our room wasn't ready and was filthy, so we had to go away for a few hours and come back. The restaurant was closed, as was the pool, which looked like a swamp despite the lovely pool photos and the advertised restaurant and pool table. The kitchen cupboards were bare, with no bowls or knives. There were no staff or manager on site, just an unhelpful security guard who said the manager was 10km away. This was a horrible start to our first holiday since covid. I'm both a host and a traveller on Booking.com, and wouldn't expect my guests to put up with this. I think twice before posting reviews because I know hosting can be hard, but this was absolutely ridiculous.

The upstairs party room was great, with good speakers and lights. The villa was spacious and very fancy, but a terrible smell in one bedroom and bathroom made them unusable. None of the Apple TVs worked, and the TV had static problems too.

A good spot for a family or a group of friends in Bali. You'll need a car, an MPV, or ideally a tour guide to get around to places of interest.
