The villa has potential, but for its price and location it currently falls short. I had to post this review again after the owner suggested we might have stayed somewhere else. To be clear, we definitely stayed at this exact property. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and welcoming, but their kindness doesn’t make up for the villa’s shortcomings. It needs basic improvements: the kitchen was missing many essentials, which made cooking for ourselves difficult, and the towels were worn out and rough. The old bed linen had permanent stains that can’t be washed out and should be replaced. The walls were dirty and badly needed cleaning and repainting. Rather than deny guest feedback, it would be more constructive to invest in the villa and its equipment.

The photos on Booking and other sites made Villa Oberoi look bright and luxurious, but we found a worn, poorly maintained place that didn’t match them. For what we paid, the quality was disappointing, especially since we’ve stayed in better places in Bali for the same or less. Cleanliness was a major problem. The floors left our feet black when we walked barefoot, and staff seemed to sweep without mopping. The pale, porous tiles need a proper scrub. Walls around switches and door frames were dirty too, and the villa needs more than cosmetic fixes. The sofa smelled of sweat, was stained and unpleasant to sit on. Towels were old and grey, and one morning we found them mildewed and smelly after being left in the washing machine overnight. The laundry and staff area was extremely dirty as well. Breakfast was cold and low quality. The eggs seemed to have been made hours earlier, and the toast was rubbery, perhaps reheated from the day before. We ended up buying bread because the supplied bread was inedible. The all-in-one body wash had a rotten smell, and the toiletries seemed very cheap, possibly old or expired, and unsuitable for guests. There were only three sunbeds for four people. The wooden pool deck sagged and splintered, making it uncomfortable and unsafe, particularly for children, and needs replacing. There was no dedicated parking, so we had to leave the car beside a narrow, busy street, pressed against a wall, with a constant risk of damage. That would be difficult with a larger car or scooter. Though the map suggests a central location, getting to restaurants or Seminyak center meant using narrow, dark alleyways mostly used by motorbikes, an uncomfortable walk in the evening. The villa is outdated and needs deep cleaning or replacement of the furniture, flooring, deck and toiletries. The online photos don’t show its actual condition, and it fell short of reasonable expectations for the price.

We really enjoyed the quiet setting, especially compared with some of the busier nearby towns. The beach and local restaurants were only a short walk away. We did have mosquitoes, and a dog barking at night, so earplugs might be useful. The villa was clean, well kept and had everything we needed. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the owner was especially kind and accommodating. They made sure we had what we needed and shared helpful local tips. It was a lovely stay, and I’d recommend it for a peaceful getaway.

The service was the highlight for us, and the breakfast was delicious. Everything was clean, too. The villa had a lovely traditional layout, a very nice pool and great facilities. We’d definitely come back. A well-deserved five stars.

The way the villa was styled really appealed to us, and we loved the rooms, the cleanliness and the location. Villa Oberoi itself was a wow. Kadek and Made were lovely and attentive, and made the whole stay enjoyable. Nothing ever seemed to be a problem. Thanks for a lovely visit, Mr Enzo, Kadek and Made. We’ll be back.
