Yama Balian

Every meal at Yama Balian was delicious, nourishing, and so beautifully presented that it felt like art. The staff were incredible, going far beyond what I expected to make sure we felt comfortable and cared for. I stayed here for my Yoga Teacher Training, and the setting couldn’t have been better. It’s serene and gorgeous, with a natural mix of Balinese craft and Mediterranean simplicity. Every corner feels considered and calming. It’s rare to find somewhere that feels both luxurious and grounding. I can’t recommend Yama Balian highly enough, it felt like a true sanctuary.

The kindness of the people here is what I’ll remember most. When I felt unwell after apparently picking something up a few days earlier at another location, they packed my bag, checked on me, and helped however they could. I felt safe and genuinely cared for. I’d joined a retreat during my stay, and it was meaningful, nourishing, and beautifully held. From the moment I arrived, I felt grounded and sure I was in the right place. There’s a peaceful presence here that’s hard to explain, along with silence and an energy that make the place feel special. I’m deeply grateful, and couldn’t have asked for a better setting to rest, heal, and arrive.

I didn’t stay here, though it seems lovely. The staff were wonderful, and the presentation was incredible, but the food was decent at best and short on flavor. The zucchini salad was a 9/10, bright and colorful, with a lovely sauce and thin slices. The dragonfruit mojito was a 10/10, incredible, I’d order dozens. Cauliflower got 7/10. The snapper was 6/10, tough, and the mix of sauces didn’t work well. Cheese pudding was 6/10. Compared with some other places around, this wasn’t the best food in the world.

We booked Yama for a week for our yoga retreat, and the stay felt absolutely magical. It’s tucked into nature beside the Balian river, such a peaceful spot. The rooms, location, facilities, and staff were all amazing. Everyone was attentive and helpful, and the food was healthy, nourishing, and well prepared. I’d happily stay here 100 times over. Absolute bliss!
