NTC Lembang by Kuncara PHM

We came looking for the quiet atmosphere and friendly staff described in the reviews, especially after four chaotic days in Jakarta. We booked ahead and specifically requested a quiet room, and the reservation was confirmed. Instead, the place was full of teenagers and we got the noisiest room, right beside the common area. There was a hole in the door, so all the noise came straight through. We didn’t stay for the second night. The owner could at least have warned us about the situation and refunded that night, but he didn’t. It wasn’t the peaceful stay the reviews led us to expect. They should make it clear that the hostel hosts group events and gets very crowded in June and July. Be careful if you’re planning to visit then, as it may not have the calm atmosphere the reviews suggest.

I’d happily stay here again and again. It’s not the facilities, decor, or luxury that made the place for me, and the price isn’t my point either. You might be surprised by the roomprice, so go and experience it yourself. What stayed with me was how refreshed I felt after a nap, a long sleep, or simply sitting in the common room. The folded clean linen, floors, and warm hospitality gave the old hotel a lovely, well-managed feel in every corner. It reminded me of "the Grand Budapest Hotel", deliciously directed by Wes Anderson, though I’m getting sidetracked. From my mountain-view room with a balcony, I could hear cicadas and the wind, and see the Lembang hills, Pinetrees, and localfarm. I didn’t miss having air conditioning at all.

It went beyond what I expected. The staff were welcoming, the beds comfortable, and the rooms and bathroom clean. There’s fast, stable internet, hot water, and laundry machines, plus a football field, kitchen, basketball ground, exercise ground, and garden.

A good place with really friendly staff, and one of them speaks English, which makes it a good option for foreigners. It’s close to lots of tourist spots, including asia africa and floating market. I’ll definitely book again.
