d’Nusa Beach Club and Resort

We had to leave another resort suddenly because of maintenance problems, and the team at d’Nusa Beach Club & Resort helped us straight away. Everyone was welcoming, and they made a stressful arrival feel easy. The beachfront setting and lovely pool have a relaxed feel, while the rooms are set back from street noise and still close to good cafes and restaurants. Our room was excellent, with a very comfortable bed, great Wi-Fi and air conditioning. The bar and restaurant were good too. A beautiful place to stay, and I’d recommend it wholeheartedly.

The beach is strewn with rubbish and eroding, and there was no effort to clear it. The pool showers and our room shower were dirty and mouldy, towels were torn, and housekeeping mopped around spills and furniture while leaving the dirty floor mats in place. A mirror had chipped paint, the walls were cracked, and parts of the ceiling were coming apart. There were odd sand pits in the corridors that local cats used as litter boxes, and rotting leaves were left in our villa and pool during both nights of our stay. Even the fountain on the way to the restaurant was scummy. The room felt damp and sticky, and the hotel's general hygiene made me uncomfortable and unsafe. The food was terrible; I only finished it because I hate wasting food. The entrance had a pile of rubbish, and the dusty, run-down lobby looked nothing like the photos. The whole place seems neglected and is an embarrassment to Bali. Charging guests in this condition feels misleading. I don’t know why it gets three, four or five stars, but one is the most it deserves. I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s a waste of time and money, so stay away.

We left after two nights of a planned four-night stay and booked somewhere else because the place felt unhygienic, unhealthy and unsafe. Don’t rely on the old photos. The resort posts outdated pictures, and I suspect some reviews are fake. Check recent low ratings and guest photos. The beach was badly eroded, barely reachable past a steep drop and broken concrete, with crumbled walls, concrete scattered along the shore, and rubbish everywhere. The mouldy, dirty beach chairs and showers weren’t inviting either. Around the property, wet foliage made the unswept pool area slippery. There were also animal droppings on public walkways. Large pieces were missing from the main lobby ceiling, and concrete seemed to be failing. Cracks and chips showed up in the room and public areas. The steep stairs to the second-floor rooms and gym had no railings. The gym was small, musty and damp, and stank, with its air conditioner blowing hot, wet air. Our room was filthy. The shower and basin had thick grime, mould and soap scum, including on the mirror and tap. Housekeeping seemed to make the bed with a dirty, dry mop waved over the floor, without sweeping or properly cleaning. They left the dirty mats and old, ripped towels in place, and put used face cloths back on the sink to be used again. The mosquito nets had holes, the doors didn’t close fully, and uncovered windows let in early morning light. The old air conditioning was noisy, and the solid concrete building had no airflow, which seemed poorly suited to the tropics. The lobby smelled musty and looked dated, with stained, chipped furniture and empty shelves. We’d walked through puddles and past rubbish to get from the street to reception. We asked for two key passes for two guests sharing a room but were told the policy was one per room because they didn’t have enough. Later, when told breakfast was minimal due to low guest numbers, we learned there were only 10 guests booked for 50 rooms. Dinner arrived cold and stale after a long wait. Breakfast choices were limited, the bread and pastries stale, and the coffee cheap and nasty. The staff seemed friendly and tried to help, but the facilities and service let them down. We were told to press 0 for reception, but the phone didn’t work. After asking in person for fresh towels, we waited all evening and got none. We booked alternate lodging for most of our trip, but they wouldn’t refund us. They offered only 50% off the cold, stale restaurant meal. They said booking.c bookings had a no-refund policy, though we explained that the listing had false information and outdated photos.

The pool right by the beach was clean and a great place to unwind. Our room was tidy and comfortable, with a crazy good view, and breakfast was tasty, especially the local dishes. The staff were always friendly and happy to help. D Nusa Resort had a quiet, cozy atmosphere that suited a short getaway, and it was one of my favorite stays in Nusa Lembongan. Definitely worth it, and I’d come back.
