Tigerlillys Boutique Hotel

After I dislocated my shoulder snorkeling, I went to reception to ask where I could get medical help. They said a taxi ride would take two minutes but quoted an extremely high price, or suggested I walk ten minutes with the injury. That lack of care was the worst part for me. The room is visible from public areas, and gaps in the door let bugs crawl in at night. The shower pressure is very weak and there's no hot water. Staff weren't accommodating, and the place felt overpriced. I'd choose somewhere else.

The staff seemed unmotivated and inattentive from the start, and the other employees were grumpy and unfriendly too. The food was a poor deal for the high prices. There were hardly any vegetarian or vegan choices beyond fried rice, and several dishes on the menu weren't available. I ordered rice with tofu and tempe sate, but five minutes later the staff said they had neither tofu nor tempe. Not worth a visit. Go to "the General" across the street instead, it's much better.

The pool area was lovely, and I was told breakfast was included, but I was charged for it on both mornings. I also left my passport under a pillow with $100 AUD by accident. When I returned, they handed back my passport but the money was gone. I can't say who took it, but it had been there the night before. I should've used the safe, though I thought I wouldn't need to worry as much on a small island. I stayed in an upstairs bungalow. The door wouldn't lock properly, and I had to ask for help opening it a few times. The bathroom was downstairs, and being across from the pool meant there was no privacy. For the price, I think there are better places to stay on the island.

I chose the refundable option and canceled my August booking more than two weeks ahead, but the €150 never came back. It's November now, and several follow-ups haven't led to anything. This feels like a scam. I definitely wouldn't recommend the place.
