The outside area looked nice, though the garden was poorly kept and full of cat droppings. Inside, the bathroom was basic and dirty, the mattress was dirty too, and the small fan was filthy. They provided one towel, but I couldn't tell if it was clean, so I didn't use it. There wasn't any soap or tissue either. I didn't have time to photograph the bathroom. Getting there from Ubud took a while, and I found the location inconvenient. I searched back and forth with maps telling me I'd arrived, but couldn't find the place. Agoda listed it as OYO 94014 The Sanya Homestay, though the property was actually Pondok Saren Anyar Homestay. The reception was unfriendly, and the woman didn't explain things properly. They said they'd stopped working with OYO but still worked with RedDoorz, so they wouldn't let us check in, despite our having paid Agoda in full. They said they hadn't received the money. The Sanya really doesn't exist!!!! The price on Agoda looked ridiculously low, which was tempting for us backpackers. But after arriving at 9 PM, too tired to find somewhere else, I paid another 240,000 Rupiah for two non-AC rooms. We complained to Agoda, but don't know if a refund is possible since the accommodation is under another name. I think the 120,000 Rupiah I paid again should at least have covered decent basics. If you're thinking of booking on any platform, check everything carefully first.

There was a dog barking all night, and the service wasn't much better. I wasn't helped at reception in the middle of the night because the staff were playing video games, and they acted irritated with me. I've never had an experience like that elsewhere in Indonesia. The rooms were really dirty too, with insects, blood on the beds, wall stains, dust, and cobwebs.

The hallways have nice plants and sculptures, and this could have been a welcoming place. Instead, the receptionist looked fed up and gave me dirty looks. When I tried to talk to him, he spoke even more unpleasantly. It felt like they treated you as if you belonged to the lowest social class just because you paid so little. I booked a standard room by mistake. It had the usual hole in the floor and a 30cm hose meant to be a shower. The photos on Google showed the superior rooms with European-style bathrooms. I asked if I could upgrade, and was ready to book the premium room and pay for all four nights again if needed. They showed it to us, and thank goodness they did, because the toilet looked disgusting. We left with the key in case we came back to the area, but went somewhere else since the bed didn't seem safe even from 100 meters away. Three days later, with one night still left, we came back to return the key and quickly use the toilet hole. The room had already been given to other people. When I asked the despotic receptionist, he spent four minutes typing into the translator that since I hadn't told them anything, they'd rented it out. He gave me the key to a different room, where I used the floor hole to pee rather than do it in the street, which would have been much better. I've stayed in shabby, poorly run places before, but this one makes those seem like luxury palaces. If you're after a social media video of yourself in filth, this is your place. Otherwise, stay away. If you do go, say goodbye to your loved ones because the ant colonies might tear you to pieces. My stay was from the 23rd to the 26th, and I'm writing this on October 25, 2024.

The service was really bad, and there wasn't any water in the bathroom. Just not good.

The location is isolated, and the room was dirty with facilities that weren't up to par. Service was poor, with unfriendly Easterners on staff. Be careful when you leave your room. The housekeeper has a second key and can get in while you're out. It happened to me, and the following note was left on my bed.
