Dangin Mangkalan Homestay

The family were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was yummy. It’s a beautiful spot with great views, big rooms, comfy beds, good bathrooms, and a little outdoor area with tables and chairs by each room. One thing for light sleepers: bring ear plugs. Like many places in Bali, the cockerels here can crow at any hour, sometimes through the night!

The family running this place were kind, down to earth, and diligent. They were helpful and warm, but gave us space and never tried to sell us anything or spin us stories. The room was bright and very clean, with quality bedding and a great mattress. The hot shower had strong pressure, and the garden and mountain views were lovely. It’s tucked down an alley off the main road, so it stayed quiet and private. We loved the delicious nasi goreng at breakfast. Great value in the town center, and I’d love to come back.

We had a bad experience. The hosts were nice, and they could arrange a taxi for us to visit the area, but the accommodation was disappointing. The old bed was uncomfortable, there were spider webs around, and the room smelled damp. The bathroom was dirty and damp-smelling too, and the toilet was even worse, with a urine smell. Breakfast was just two slices of toasted bread with industrial jam and some fruit.

Made, the owner, was really helpful and tried his best to provide what we needed. It’s a nice, quiet homestay with a good view, a clean room, and a very cozy bed. They serve a big, tasty breakfast every morning. The wifi wasn’t very good, but you can use the internet at nearby restaurants if you need to.
