Desa Eko

We slept peacefully and woke feeling rested and energized. From our room, the mountains looked beautiful, and at night we could hear waterfalls, birds, and crickets. We stayed one night in a deluxe room with a private bathroom. The tent, surrounding area, and spacious bathroom were all spotless. Staff were kind and friendly, and the homemade food tasted great. We also appreciated their effort to avoid plastic. We loved it here and were genuinely sad to leave.

The Botanist was a real highlight. Its vegan options were appreciated, and the tempeh tacos and tomato soup were both delicious. No need to leave the property for a great meal. Desa Eko is also well placed for nearby waterfalls and temples. I stayed in the Deluxe Tent with a private washroom. It was clean, minimal, and thoughtfully designed, with a very comfortable bed. Falling asleep to the sounds of nature was lovely. The staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive, making sure everything went smoothly. The crisp mountain air and quiet surroundings made this a tranquil reset away from the busy tourist hubs. A beautiful, rejuvenating stay in Munduk, and I’d highly recommend it.

I had a reservation but then had a minor accident and canceled. Although I didn’t receive a refund, they let me change my stay without charging anything extra, and were very attentive about it. That was kind of them. Desa Eko and Botanists are my peaceful havens in Bali, with forest and waterfalls around and a restaurant that caters to all tastes. The staff are friendly and attentive. I definitely love this sanctuary.

Please think twice before booking. The views really are breathtaking, and the housekeeping team, especially Wahyu, were incredibly kind and attentive. Wahyu was the only person there who felt truly caring and human to us. We booked the most expensive “studio” for extra comfort, but it sits directly under the road. Hundreds of scooters passed all night, making sleep impossible. The room wasn’t enclosed: it had open walls and a high roof, you could see the toilet from the road, and insects, noise, and dust came inside easily. The Botanist looks nice, but the team seemed unfriendly and unmotivated. We waited 40 minutes for a pizza and nasi goreng, with only two tables ahead of us. The food was overcooked and spoiled. I ended up with gastroenteritis, confirmed at a clinic, and lost €750 and four days of my holiday. Beautiful views, but a nightmare stay. Don’t let marketing ruin your holiday.
