Puri Sunset Homestay

The suite was spacious and spotless, with the mountain right outside the window. There was a desk, fridge, and kettle, and the warm linens and towels came at no extra cost. It was raining when we arrived, but the staff greeted us with large umbrellas and were very helpful. Fantastic location.

If you enjoy beautiful scenery, this is a lovely place to stay in one of Bali’s prettiest areas. I first visited Munduk about five years ago and began staying at Puri Sunset Homestay around two years back. There are plenty of trails nearby, and you can climb the hills if you have the time and energy. You could easily spend a week here. Just be prepared for rain, as this may be one of the wettest parts of Bali.

We didn’t sleep well here because the homestay sits right by the main road into munduk. Traffic carries on through the night, and the rooms barely block any sound, so earplugs were necessary. The rooms are very basic, with no kettle and nowhere shared to make tea or coffee, which most other Bali hotels we stayed in had. We asked for extra black coffees since there was no kettle. Nobody mentioned a charge, but at checkout we were simply handed a bill, with no friendly check-in about how the stay had gone or where we were headed. There are other places nearby at a similar price with more to offer.

The room was stunning, the food was delicious, and the people were extremely pleasant. We had a problem with the motobike, but it was sorted by the next morning. The homestay is near four waterfalls, and we hiked there from the property. The stay was wonderful.
