Bintang Munduk

The management team were really sweet, and the place looks just like the photos. It’s on a quiet street with amazing forest views and close to the start of some fantastic hiking trails. You can also walk to two dinner places, with Made’s Munduk the best, though be careful on the road. We had the biggest bed we’ve ever slept in, which was fabulous, and a nice balcony. The shower was only okay: it had no ventilation and didn’t seem very clean. Breakfast was good, but the few snacks we tried from the restaurant felt overpriced. The noise is why I’m taking off a star. We could hear neighbours talking in their rooms or bathrooms, and smoke from their balconies drifted in and smelled annoying. There was also constant noise despite the remote setting.

The rooms have mosquito nets, which I really appreciated since that isn’t always provided at hotels. We ended up staying in three different rooms after extending our visit. Rooms 30 and 29 were our favourites, though all the rooms were excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and could arrange full or half-day trips if you wanted. They took me to the start of the walking trail for two nearby waterfalls. We also had an excellent Balinese massage arranged in our room. The pool was great too, 10 meters long and just right for a little swim workout.

At night you might hear some “nature noise.” It didn’t bother us, but light sleepers may want earplugs, which the hotel also provided. We had a great stay and would definitely return. The staff were extremely kind, helped us plan our visit, suggested different routes, and made us feel welcome throughout. Our room was very clean, and the semi-outdoor bathroom was lovely and clean as well. Views from the pool and balcony were amazing, making it a great place to relax. Breakfast was delicious, with what seemed to be the usual options in Bali.

Best experience I’ve had. The food was great, and the staff were so kind and helped sort out everything we needed.
