Penida Dive Resort

Atef was fantastic at spotting big animals out in the blue. On our four dives we saw several mantas, spotted eagle rays, dogtooth tuna, a giant marble ray, and six (!!) Mola mola’s. The dive shop is really nice, though its location is a few streets farther south than Google Maps shows. Thanks to everyone at Penida Dive Resort. Hope we can dive with you again!

Being stuck longer than planned because the waves stopped the fast boats was rough, but the people at Penida Dive Resort did all they could to help us leave, and we eventually got off Nusa Penida by ferry. We’re very grateful to them. It was also lovely finding a little Czech community so far from home. The place runs on trust, and everyone was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed evenings chatting with our new friends over fresh juice or Bintang. The food was very good and really cheap. The accommodation was cheap too. Our room was small and basic, but had everything we needed.

The price was good, cheaper than other places, but there was no pool training beforehand. Since it was my first time scuba diving, I would have found that helpful. There were three of us with one instructor, though other professionals have told me beginners should have no more than two people per instructor. Once we were in the water I didn’t feel comfortable and had to stop, so I couldn’t enjoy the full experience. I paid a little less than my friends because of that.

We did four dives and saw manta rays, turtles, stingrays, a shark, and lots more. It’s a lovely place to stay and dive, with really friendly people and very experienced divers. The French instructor is top notch. If you need anything, you can ask them. We’ll definitely be back.
