The lively diner downstairs and the convenient location were a plus. WhatsApp service worked once someone replied, though there’s no front desk, and the Wi-Fi was fine on my phone but weak on my laptop. My first room was the problem: it smelled bad, had mold and peeling paint, and felt neglected. I nearly gave the place one star. After I asked, they moved me to a much cleaner top-floor room with fresh air and no mold, possibly a newer remodel or simply better maintained. If you stay, check the room first and ask about a top-floor one. It could suit someone on a budget who’s fine with a simple place, as long as they avoid the moldy rooms.

The noise could be a problem: there’s a hostel across the road, so party nights can get loud, and the cafe downstairs sometimes plays music loudly. The rooms are cute but very small, with old soft mattresses and, in some rooms, old broken wardrobes. I don’t understand the new prices when you can find somewhere much more decent for the same money. I stayed in two different rooms for two years, from January 2023 until the end of October 2024. The Wi-Fi was never strong enough, and nothing had changed in the two years I was there. The last time I checked was October 2024. I also saw a review about the bad Wi-Fi before booking. They announced a renovation, but what changed was a new wall print behind the beds and a really thorough cleaning. I thought I had a good relationship with the manager, who wasn’t related to the owners, and stayed because she promised to sort things out. She ended up scamming me and many others, and has since been fired. Since I always dealt with her and she turned out to be a scam, I don’t know how much of what she told me was true. I’ve tried to give an honest picture of the place. After reading the reviews, I also think bad ones may be deleted, since I can’t find the ones I saw before.

The WhatsApp communication was quick and kind. I didn’t stay in the end because I found a more convenient location, but I was shown three available rooms in the building above the cafe. One was on the first floor with a balcony and no kitchen; the other two were upstairs on the second floor and had kitchens. Everything was very clean, smelled nice, and looked hygienic, with no fungus. The rooms were a bit basic, which gave me even more reason not to spend time in them.

I really enjoyed staying here. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were reasonably priced, and the cleaning service came every day. The cafe downstairs was fantastic too. My one issue was the Wi-Fi: it was really bad, even though I’d been told it would be good enough for work.
