A fresh, pleasant setting with gazebos outside the rooms, and breakfast is brought to your room for free rather than served as a buffet. For other meals, nearby food stalls have options like fried rice, satay, yellow rice, and pecel. It’s a very good deal for an affordable guest house.

We’re visiting family and plan to use Ndalem Katong again next time. It’s been the most convenient, comfortable, and friendly place we’ve found so far in Ponorogo. The garden gives the homestay-style layout a lovely cool feel, with garden views from the seating area outside every room. There’s ample parking nearby, and the lobby, layout, and facade are nicely done. The simple bedroom is clean and air conditioned, and the bathrooms have hot and cold water. They’re adequate, though the bathrooms, sockets, and switches look a little tired and prioritize function over looks. The facilities are good for a two-star hotel and better than many higher-star places. Breakfast is included when booked directly, and the rates are very good for what you get.

I booked the family room, and there was plenty of space. It also had a hot shower. The facilities are a bargain for the price, and the hotel is near Ponorogo city center. Great value.

We stayed here recently, my wife and I. It’s a medium-sized hotel in the heart of Ponorogo City, East Java Province, with spacious parking, comfortable rooms, friendly staff, and a quiet, green, cool atmosphere. The AC was very good (5/5), and the free Wi-Fi was very good too (4/5). Our bathroom was medium-sized and clean enough, though the hot shower was unreliable and took several minutes to warm up. Motorbikes can be parked under the roof right in front of the room. Rates start at IDR 200,000.- with tax included if you pay directly, and online bookings cost more. The cheaper rooms are on the second floor, which has no elevator. Breakfast was delicious pecel rice with fried tempe and one fried egg each, plus two hot drinks (4/5). There’s self-serve refill mineral water in the lobby. The TV reception was bad (1/5), so we didn’t watch any TV. The kitchen staff forgot peanut sauce on one of our pecel rice orders, and I had to go complain in the kitchen.
