Sans Hotel Empress Simpang Lima

The family room is big and nice, with hot water. The hotel is in a very strategic spot near just about everything in the city center, though the car park is very limited and the admin will help you with that. There’s no elevator, so a room boy can help with your luggage. Recommended hotel.

The hotel itself is clean and was okay for two nights, but it’s in a dirty, smelly alley near Simpang Lima. It’s a simple place. At check-in they asked for a 400 thousand IDR guarantee, and when we lost a key card they charged 100 IDR for it. The staff were strict about rules, with little service or hospitality and no flexibility at all. Too bad.

Check-in was quick, and the room and shower were clean when I arrived. The location is okay, and you can take a Grab car to wherever you need to go. But the room wasn’t cleaned, the bed wasn’t made, and after two days I had to ask for fresh towels. Odd, since there were cleaning carts everywhere. I saw a cleaning boy on his phone in one of the empty rooms. I don’t know, maybe he was too busy.

I really enjoyed the stay. The room was super clean and comfy, with a comfortable bed, and the place was quiet enough for a good night’s sleep. The guys were polite too. I booked a family room. There were only two power sockets, though, and the water pressure was a bit weak. Would recommend it.
