Chandra Luxury Villas Bali

We spent a week at Chandra Villa’s celebrating a 60th birthday with the whole family, including our two-year-old. The open-plan villas felt luxurious, and the staff were fantastic. It’s a wonderful place for a family celebration, and I can’t recommend it enough. We’ll always remember the stay.

The pool was lovely, breakfast was nice, and room service was great. The villa itself is beautiful and the staff were very friendly, but travelling with young children made the stay uncomfortable. It seems better suited to older kids. Getting our pram through the complex and into the villa was a struggle, and the gaps between the pavers were hazardous. My children fell several times and got hurt. There were also so many mosquitoes. One other thing I found surprising: I’ve never before been charged for an accidentally broken glass, and they also charge if you stain the towels.

The staff made it so easy to settle in. They were incredibly attentive, took great care of the rooms, pool and garden, and welcomed us warmly whenever we came back from a walk or outing. The daily breakfasts were amazing too. The Villas are right by Seminyak’s main hub, with plenty of eateries, beach clubs and high-end restaurants nearby. We came back after 12 years and found it just as excellent as we remembered. We’ve visited other places in Bali, but this will always be our first stop. The staff were helpful, but the insect problem made us check in and check out on the same day. They offered to fog and spray the villa, then asked me to inspect it the next day. During that hour, we saw dead cockroaches in the living area, mosquitoes were biting us, and the insecticide smell was still there. They seemed to think that was fine for young children. As a parent, I couldn’t accept it, even though I think the villa might be okay for adults. The shower is outdoors, so you can’t use it when it rains. We forfeited the full fee, and our request for a partial refund was rejected. Families with young kids should be aware.
