The cats here are adorable, chubby, well-groomed, and tame. The staff are very friendly and open, with a village feel to them. The rooms and location are quite comfortable, and I think they’ve done a good job with the rural concept. It’s calm and quiet here.

The traditional wooden buildings, tiled floors, and woven ceilings give the place a very Jogja or Javanese feel. It may look like an old-style home, but it’s clean and well-maintained. There are several room types, and the rooms have AC, a TV, towels, soap, and bottled drinks. With rice fields out front, the air feels cool, especially when it rains. There are also plenty of places to eat nearby. If you want the Jogja/Javanese atmosphere, I’d recommend staying here. Tembi Coffee and Angkringan is an option for food and closes at 11 p.m. Mangut Lele Mbah Marto is about 2 kilometers away, and there’s also a Tembi Coffee and Angkringan. It takes 15-20 minutes to drive to Malioboro, and the trip to YIA Airport is about an hour to an hour and a half. Mardjan’s room is the small one. Manto’s is larger, with 3 beds, a kitchen, and 2 bathrooms.

I booked by calling the phone number posted on the wall, even though this Tembi homestay is well-known on hotel booking websites. There are two houses with four bedrooms in total, at different prices. The biggest one is the best option because it has a kitchen. I enjoyed the stay with my family, though I think I’d have been bored here on my own. We were given a welcome drink, and meals and breakfast, which are usually served at the hotel, can be customized. My family chose to eat out.
