City View Sorong

The room was reasonably clean, the bed was okay, and the sheets and towels were clean. It's quiet at night and not far from the airport. The cleaning lady was much more helpful than reception. I strongly regret staying here. I had a hard time getting basic information from the receptionist. She spoke neither English nor Bahasa, and I couldn't tell if she was shy or scared, but she wasn't useful as a consultant. The room looked a bit shabby, though that alone wasn't a big problem. The window was fixed shut with screws and looked out onto a metal roof. There was AC, but it didn't seem to work, and the room stayed hot even at night. No hot water either. WiFi was painfully slow and kept dropping. In the morning a browser page could take over three minutes to load. Breakfast was limited and had no healthy options, and the restaurant wasn't open at breakfast, so you couldn't even get juice. Staff weren't helpful with food or tourist recommendations. It felt like they only cared about taking the money and checking you out on time.

The breakfast included Asian options, fresh fruit and toast. The location is convenient, with several restaurants nearby and a convenience store just around the corner. Our room was clean with AC, and the bathroom was clean too, with somewhat warm water. It also had toothbrushes, a comb, several soaps and a shower cap. A pleasant stay in Sorong, though I'm not sure why it's called city view since we didn't have a view. We'd come back. Terima kasih

The location near the main street is handy, and the bed was comfortable. My room was small but fairly clean, with an okay shower and not many amenities. Breakfast was fine too. At around Rp 550K for a standard room, the price felt typical for a budget hotel. The reception staff could improve how they treat guests, though, and a real smile would help.

We couldn't stay at City View Hotel last week, and Booking wouldn't let us get a refund. The owner was understanding and kind, though, and agreed to return 50%. He replied quickly and was really nice on WhatsApp. I'd recommend staying here if you're passing through Sorong before heading to Raja Ampat in Papua.
