Holabeds Hostel

It’s only about 3 minutes to Solo Paragon, and the place is near Solo Balapan Station. The room was just right for what it is: one bed, a bathroom, and a small folding desk. You can hear sounds from the neighboring room, but it was still okay. They provide tissue, body soap, and a towel, though I’d bring my own towel.

Everything looked very modern, but I understood there was no dorm when I asked for one, partly because they don’t speak English. That’s why I wouldn’t call this a hostel. I paid 180,000 IRP for a weekend night and got a private room. It was extremely small, barely enough room to move, though okay for one night. The internet was a big problem, it was very slow. They said it was due to maintenance, but I don’t think that was true, and they should have told me before taking payment. I think there are better deals in Solo at this price, sorry.

I stayed at Holabeds for a week and was pleased with the choice. It’s right in the town center, with everything close by, and an Angkringan/Wedangan sets up in front of Holabeds at 5 p.m. All the staff were kind and helpful. The room is small but works, and looks like the photos people share. The room and bathroom were clean, the AC was in good condition, and the Wi-Fi was okay, though it could be better. Praying in the room was a little difficult but still possible. There was a small hole in the sheet, but I didn’t mind. It was a pleasure staying here.

A clean, simple, cozy room, with warm and kind staff. It’s near Paragon Solo Mall and seems like a good fit for flashpackers or backpackers visiting Solo. One thing to know if you’re Muslim: the room isn’t suitable for praying. Check-out is before 11 a.m.
