We paid IDR 180,000 including breakfast through Traveloka for a spacious standard double room, staying Saturday with my wife. The bed was comfortable, AC worked well, and the private bathroom was clean, with hot water and a Western-style toilet. Breakfast was yellow rice and hot tea, both savory and satisfying. This is a cozy homestay on Jl. Kapten Mulyadi, close to Pasar Kliwon traditional market in Surakarta (Solo) City. The garden is cool, and there is a musholla plus a shared hot and cold mineral water dispenser with free tea bags, coffee, and sugar. Staff were helpful and friendly, parking was spacious for both cars and motorbikes, and the TV reception and free WiFi were good. Only free TV channels, though. A few drawbacks: there was no trash bin, mosquitoes got into the room, and shampoo, tissues, toothbrushes, and toothpaste weren't supplied. The shower also took about five minutes to heat up.

The staff were lovely to be around and made sure we had what we needed. When we weren't comfortable sharing a bathroom, they moved us to a better room for only a small extra charge. Our only slight issue was that activities started very early each day, though getting up early now and then on holiday was alright.

For a stopover in Solo, this was a good place to rest, and the location worked well for going to Alun alun Surakarta, where there are lots of food options at night. Having breakfast included helped us save time and get back on the road early. It was a simple nasi uduk breakfast, but useful when you're in a rush or just passing through. Room prices vary, around 150k, 200k, or 250k depending on features such as an ensuite bathroom and room size. I chose the 200k option, which came with its own bathroom, a double bed, toiletries, towels, and breakfast. A very affordable place to stay during a Solo transit.

There's plenty of food nearby, from restaurants and street vendors to traditional warung makan. The guesthouse is also close to pasar klewer, kraton, and kampung batik kauman. My room and bathroom were clean, the staff were friendly, and the location was great.
