POP! Hotel Solo

The staff were friendly and parking was roomy. With restaurants nearby and the hotel connected to Harris Hotel, there are other places to eat if breakfast isn’t for you. The buffet was such a letdown that I didn’t even bother trying it, so I’d book without breakfast. My room was comfortable, the location was convenient, and the price was affordable. The facilities were decent, too. The towels were tiny, though, and even after I reported the AC problem and a technician came very quickly, it still didn’t work properly. I’d still recommend staying here.

We skipped breakfast because there are plenty of local food options around Solo. The hotel is well located, the service was good, and the rooms were clean. Facilities are pretty minimal, but that makes sense for a 2-star hotel.

The location is hard to beat: a short walk from Purwosari Staion and right by Slamet Riyadi Street. On weekends, you can wake up and join the Car Free Day just outside. Sometimes a budget hotel can give you that feeling of home away from home in the small moments, whatever its star rating. I’ve stayed at Pop! Hotel SOlo since its early days. The rooms have the familiar standard you get at other Pop! Hotels, but the lobby feels more exclusive and leads straight into a cafe and restaurant that are both good and unique. I’ve held small meetings and met friends there. The cafe used to be open 24 hours, which was perfect, but since the pandemic it closes at 10 PM. That’s a shame, since there seems to be a good late night crowd for it. Being part of a building with Harris Hotel also gives the place a subtle lift, almost like a 4 star experience.

The breakfast had plenty of flavor, and the room was clean and comfortable. Helpful staff, too, and the location is convenient.
