Villa Kalisha

We loved the forest scenery and fresh air, especially in the mornings, and the villa gave our family plenty of room. The pool was a favorite most days, though we skipped it when heavy monsoon rain came down. It was a peaceful, unusual stay compared with busier parts of Bali. The housekeeping team could also cook meals, which was handy when we wanted to stay in. Nyos, Wayan, and Made were warm and lovely, as was the other Wayan, the overnight security guard who was there in case we needed help. Made's food tasted home-cooked, and the team usually stayed until after dinner before saying goodbye and returning the next morning. We were comfortable with their trusted driver, Dougie. His rates were a little above Grab, but he waited patiently while we shopped or ate and drove us safely back each day. He was cheerful and friendly, and remembered small things like our favorite snacks and which shop we wanted to visit on the way back. There were a few things that worried us. We saw lots of bees and, almost every day, rats. Crickets, ants, cicadas, and moths were expected in a forest setting, but rats in the villa and our bedroom at night for the first three days were unsettling. Nyos set traps and caught one. We were told more roof repairs would happen in May, and hope that will deal with the rats. One afternoon we came downstairs hungry to ask for juice or food, but nobody was there. We waited 2-3 hours until someone returned in the early evening. They explained that staff might not be around in the afternoon if they weren't needed. We would have understood if this had been made clear beforehand, since we thought from the booking that a housekeeper would always be there during the day in case we needed something. Even with those issues, the villa and its surroundings made for a peaceful, memorable stay. If the rat problem is fixed, I'd recommend it to anyone wanting to get away for a while.

The real highlight was Dougie, our driver, one of the nicest people I've met. The staff were so helpful, and the food was great. I also had a fabulous massage by the pool. The villa was spotless and comfortable, in a wonderful, quiet location overlooking a rice field, with jungle sounds all around.

Villa Kalisha felt like my own little world, tucked away in a really private spot. The staff welcomed us so warmly and were incredibly kind. The food was fresh and tasty, and you should definitely try the floating breakfast. I had an amazing stay and will be back. 10/10, five stars. Thank you, Villa Kalisha.

The ordered meals were delicious, and the staff kept everything clean and helped us with whatever we needed. The interior was fancy, the food was great, and the staff were awesome. The pool was refreshing too. At night, switching off all the lights left us with no other light sources nearby. With so many different animal sounds around, we slept wonderfully.
