Axros Villa

At Axros Villa Ubud, I had a very unpleasant stay. The staff were rude, aggressive, and intimidating, and I found them dishonest. They harassed us over accusations I felt had no basis, then used threats and manipulation instead of handling our concerns professionally. The management seemed unprofessional, and the host did nothing to help. I left feeling they were trying to take advantage of guests and that the villa’s management lacked integrity. If you want a relaxed, enjoyable stay in Bali, I’d avoid this place. There are better places to stay in Ubud.

We paid IDR 600,000 and left feeling trapped and rushed, because the maintenance worker said he’d call the police if we didn’t pay. This happened at checkout after our three-day stay at Axros Villa Ubud, Bali. He accused us of taking six bathroom glasses, two from each room, and wouldn’t let us leave. We were shocked and said we had no reason to take them. We explained we were late for our flight and offered to let him check our luggage or leave a security deposit, but he refused. At the airport, we contacted the host and learned the worker had told them we paid only IDR 300,000. To me, that showed he was running a scam. He had access to the villa every day but only claimed the glasses were missing at checkout. He also had spare keys and refused to check our bags, which made no sense if he thought we had them. When we asked the host to review CCTV footage of the payment, they ignored us, which raised doubts about their involvement. I believe this was a planned attempt to extort money from guests. The staff are dishonest, and others could end up in a similar situation. Stay away.

The setting had some challenges that made this feel less suited to families, even though the service and pool were excellent. Construction nearby interrupted the otherwise peaceful atmosphere, and the approach road was steep, in poor shape, and difficult for vehicles, especially with heavy luggage. It could also be slippery, and there were quite a few insects and flies. The villa itself was attractive and well maintained, with thorough daily cleaning. Staff were very helpful and responsive, and the clean, well-sized pool was a highlight. The bathrooms looked stylish, but they were partly open, which wasn’t practical for us. The children found them scary in the evenings, and only one bathroom was fully enclosed, something that wasn’t clear from the property photos. The master bedroom sits outside the main living area beside the backyard, which felt disconnected and less suitable for families with small children.

Gede and Jasa were so kind and always ready to help with anything we needed. The host was friendly and responsive, keeping in touch throughout my stay. The villa was beautiful and very clean, and the breakfast was delicious. I’d happily recommend it and would definitely stay again when I return to Bali.
