Bening Bungalow

The location was okay, and breakfast can be brought to your room if you ask, but its timing changed a lot. My girlfriend and I stayed two nights. On the first morning, staff brought hot water for coffee or tea around 7:15am and asked if we wanted breakfast. It arrived just before 8am: a banana pancake with chocolate syrup and a small plate of pineapple and papaya. The next morning they came around 8:45am, and the same breakfast didn’t arrive until about 9:30am. The food didn’t bother me, but there weren’t other options. The room wasn’t terrible, though there were several problems. The shower drained badly because of the floor angle, leaving the shared bathroom floor wet, so your feet and possibly your pants got wet after using the toilet. They provided no towels at all, not even hand towels or a washcloth, and no toiletries except toilet paper. We were lucky to have packed a towel and bar of soap, but you’ll need to shop for supplies. There were bees, wasps, ants, moths and mosquitoes around and inside the room. A man staying downstairs also said he had bad bed bugs his first night. On our first morning, we went to local markets before a noon cooking class. We got back at 11:45, 15 minutes before our taxi, and found two younger staff members in our room. They hadn’t cleaned anything and were trying on my girlfriend’s lipsticks. A tissue with lipstick on it showed they’d tried one, removed it and tried another. One was lying across our bed while the other took pictures. They’d gone through my girlfriend’s makeup bag to find the lipsticks, which made her very uncomfortable. Their English wasn’t very good, so it was hard to tell them this wasn’t okay. She was upset and asked them not to clean the room. They seemed to understand, but when we came back from our activities, it was obvious they’d been in again. We didn’t notice anything missing, but it was awkward and frustrating. Reception also kept hassling us to pay a day in advance. That turned out badly for us, because there was no way to get a refund for a day after they’d made us feel so uncomfortable staying there.

For 300k we got the worst room, with a smelly bathroom and a broken door handle, for our one-night stay. Before going to lunch the next day, I asked reception if we could check out late without paying. They smiled and said yes, but later demanded 100k for late checkout. Sneaky people, stay away!

It’s peaceful and quiet beside the rice fields. The neighbors have a beautiful, empty pool, and breakfast is brought to your room.

The service was great, but the bed wasn’t comfortable and there was a moldy patch on the wall. For the price, AC should be included.
