Budi House Bungalows

The hygiene was extremely bad. Towels were dirty, and there was a lot of algae buildup that hadn't been cleaned in the bathroom, around the pool, or in the common areas. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Best room and place we stayed in Ubud so far. We booked the first-floor room through Airbnb and had a great time. It's on the next street over from Art Market and Goutama Street, with a laundry place right next door. They have dogs, serve a super breakfast, and clean the room daily.

The location is good, right in central Ubud, but I wouldn't come back. Breakfast was very poor, with a box of pancakes as the only sweet option, and they don't make coffee, just have it self-made in the room. They didn't have a single hair dryer in the hotel, and we had to buy our own toilet paper after they failed to replace it for three days. I stayed three nights and can't say I was fully satisfied. The room was well designed and fairly clean, but the bed was hard, uncomfortable, and higher in the middle. The bathroom leaked under the basin, leaving half the floor flooded, and always smelled humid, probably from the stones in the shower, which didn't feel hygienic to me. The staff should take more care with maintenance and service.

The small pool was nice for cooling off, and breakfast had a few choices: scrambled eggs on toast, an omelette with toast, or Balinese pancakes. The scrambled eggs were delicious. The location is great for the Art Market, Palace, shops, and restaurants. The place is reached by a small alley, best on foot or by motorbike. Cars can park at Lapangan Astina, about a five-minute walk away. The stairs up to the entrance are steep. We had mixed experiences with the staff. One seemed unmotivated, and the other had limited language skills, but it was okay overall. The rooms might have been nice before Covid, but they seem to have had little maintenance since. There were spots on the bedding, and we asked to replace the dirty first towels we got. The Wi-Fi was poor, and there was no TV or mini fridge. Another guest had broken the mosquito net, which hadn't been replaced. We took our key out with us, so maybe that's why the room wasn't cleaned during our two-night stay, though perhaps we should have left it with staff. At checkout, they kept pushing us about when we would leave.
