Canvas Escape Resort

The staff were kind and helpful, and the pool was clean and well looked after. My room at Canvas Escape was spacious and nicely decorated. It's in a quiet spot not far from the main part of Ubud. I loved staying there and will come back!

Our five nights in March happened to include Nyepi, which we hadn’t known about before arriving. We appreciated getting to experience it: the evening before, locals paraded huge paper-mâché Ogoh-Ogoh through the streets with music and chanting, then the next day everything, even the airport, shut down and guests had to stay at the hotel. It made for a relaxed Netflix day after a lively evening. The Canvas Escape Resort felt like our own little Bali villa during our honeymoon, with a roomy, clean layout that had separate living and dining spaces. A trail of flowers spelling “Happy Honeymoon” led into the bedroom, and it felt thoughtful and genuine. We were greeted with lemongrass iced tea, and the staff were warm throughout. Breakfast was excellent. I ordered Mie Goreng every morning. Laundry service was handy on our month-long trip. There’s a pool, though we didn’t use it because it rained quite a bit. Getting to Ubud’s main shopping and restaurant area took a Grab, which was the one drawback for us. If you’re fine staying outside town, the comfortable apartment-like rooms, service, and amenities make this a lovely retreat. We’d have rated it five stars if it were closer.

Canvas Escape has a quiet, laid-back feel, and the villas are comfortable and nicely decorated. The staff are so warm and kind that it felt like staying with family. Yani was a wonderful host. It felt like home near Ubud, and I’d happily return.

The staff were friendly, professional, and ready to help, which made me feel welcome. My room was clean and comfortable, and the location worked very well for me. I had a wonderful stay and would come back.
