D'Tepi Ubud House

The bed was huge and comfortable, and the view looks straight out into the jungle. Our tiny gecko, Sir Lick-a-Lot, kept licking everything and hunting bugs, so he became our little mosquito guard. The bathroom is basically all shower, so the toilet and sink get soaked too. And getting to the street is a steep little climb every time, which counts as a free workout. Restaurants aren’t close by either. It’s a 20-minute walk, a scooter rental, or finding a taxi, so dinner takes some planning. Breakfast was pretty sparse, just one pancake, a few pieces of fruit, and coffee that wasn’t great. Still, the room was spacious, and those jungle views were something else.

The rooms are quite old, but the bed was comfortable. What really made it worthwhile was waking up to that incredible jungle view. The hosts are such friendly people, and they bring breakfast every morning.

I still remember this place and its view, even though I’ve forgotten most of the hotels I’ve stayed in. Seeing the river and jungle from above and hearing the water and wildlife made me feel recharged every time. Agung is a wonderful host, and her family made me feel very welcome. It was also the cheapest place I stayed in Bali, and the value is hard to beat. For me, the view alone is completely worth staying here.

I loved sitting with the view every day, and the people were very nice. The bedsheets were clean, and there wasn’t a bad smell, but the place is old and the bathroom wasn’t very clean. The photos also look quite different from the actual place, which was disappointing. It needs a renovation, and the bathroom could use proper cleaning products. The towels were old and in poor shape too 🥲
