I loved staying at Darta Homestay and ended up spending two weeks there. It’s a quiet little oasis on my favorite street in the heart of Ubud, with loads of good restaurants at every price point. Nyoman and his family are friendly and accommodating, and they were always willing to help when I needed something. Breakfast is great, and you can buy large bottles of water at the store price, along with a few other drinks, any time, even in the middle of the night. The rooms are big, bright and clean, with all the essentials: AC, a ceiling fan, a nice warm shower and a little patio. Wi-Fi is fast and reliable too. Highly recommend it for what you get for the money.

I ended up staying at Darta on both of my Ubud visits. The rooms are simple, but clean and furnished with care, and some look out over Ubud’s rooftops toward mount Batur. Breakfast was tasty, and when I was there in Jan 2017, most of the other guests were traveling on their own, so making friends came easily. The staff are so warm that I still keep in touch with two of them on Whatsapp and IG.

This is my third visit, and I’m staying for more than two weeks this time. Darta is right in central Ubud, along Jl. Gootama street. My basic room, Nr.1, sits at the start of the garden. It’s clean and has two single beds, a desk and mirror, cupboard, electric fan, and a wet room with a toilet and sink. Prices run from 150.000 IDR to 350.000 IDR depending on what you need, and AC rooms are available too. Each room has a patio with two chairs and a desk. Some also have a bamboo bed, which is really comfortable. The price includes wifi, breakfast, and room cleaning every 2-3 days, depending on the length of your stay. The wifi is decent, though I wouldn’t expect too much, as with anywhere in Bali. I’ve stayed in lots of Bali homestays, and Darta has the best breakfast in both quality and quantity. You can pick tea or coffee, eggs, toast, or my favorite, the banana pancake. So good. Nyoman and Putu are lovely, friendly, and helpful. I’d absolutely recommend staying here if you want a little slice of heaven on the island of the goods.

You get a clean room with AC and towels, and breakfast with tea or coffee, fruit, and an omelette or pancake. It’s quiet even though you’re right in the center, with cafes and little shops close by. Putu and the rest of the staff were welcoming and really helpful. I’d also suggest Healthy Juice and Food, just across the street for good food at local prices.

I’ve stayed at Darta three times over the past five years, and it always feels like my home in Ubud, Bali. It’s on a pleasant Jalan Goutama, with plenty of shops and restaurants, and Ubud Market is just a two-minute walk away. The homestay is peaceful and clean, with a lovely green garden. Putu, Nyoman and her family are kind and helpful, and make you feel so welcome. I always enjoy my time at Darta Homestay. Highly recommend.
