Ganesh Villa

The thin walls were a real problem at night. We could hear everything, so light sleepers should bring earplugs. On the plus side, it’s right beside the jungle, with a lovely cabin, a beautiful pool, and a bathroom in an outdoor jungle style. The staff were wonderful, and breakfast was great too.

Getting to the main shopping street takes about 15 minutes on foot. Watch out on the way, since some stretches don’t have a pavement. There’s a Circle K nearby for snacks and other bits, which was handy. The staff were warm and friendly, breakfast was good, and I especially liked the banana pancakes. On hot days, the plunge pool was a nice way to cool off.

We arrived late, and the villa was tricky to locate. It’s down the alley just before the K mart, so let the host know when you expect to get there. The outdoor shower and bathroom were beautiful, and we really enjoyed the pool and included breakfast. Floating breakfast costs a little extra. There can be some noise in the morning, but you’re basically in the jungle and it didn’t bother us much. Just settle into the fact that you’re surrounded by nature. I can’t say enough good things about the place.

The bathroom really stood out to me. It’s open air, and even with a glass door there’s some privacy. If you want more, you can ask your friend or friends to wait outside by the pool while you use it. The cabin is gorgeous, breakfast and the pool were both great, and the quiet was such a relief from the motorbikes. Ubud center is only about a five minute walk or ride away. For the price, I’m not sure you could find a better stay. I’d come back to Ganesh Villa if I return to Ubud.
