Ganesha Ubud Inn

My i phone disappeared while I was out for the day. I’d left it on the bed, and when I came back after the room had been cleaned, it was gone. It was shocking and really upsetting. If you stay here, keep your valuables with you. The bedding felt damp, the towels smelled unpleasant, and there were so many mosquitoes.

The hotel grounds look nice, but the room itself was very dark because of the dark wood. It’s a wooden bungalow, and I could hear every footstep from the room above. The mattress was old and uncomfortable, and the internet mostly didn’t work. The shower is more like a bath, so you have to sit down to wash.

We stayed in the upstairs room above reception, with a view over the rice field that felt like heaven. The gardens were incredible, full of fruit trees and flowering plants, and the whole place was a quiet oasis amid Ubud’s chaos. The room was well equipped, the bed was soft, and there was plenty of hot water. The owner is a lovely man who cares about gardening and his community, and he was very responsive to guest concerns. I’d read some negative reviews beforehand, but the issues seemed minor, and those reviewers hadn’t spoken with him about fixing them. I can’t think of a reason this lovely little hotel shouldn’t have five stars across the board.

We spent a week here and enjoyed it all. The terrace view was amazing and relaxing. The hotel is at the end of an alley off Hanoman street, a busy and convenient location, but we couldn’t hear the traffic and general bustle from our room. Staff were so nice and polite, always ready to help. Breakfast changed every day and came with fruit, which we loved. They cleaned our room daily, though the fan stayed dusty and wasn’t cleaned during the whole week. We highly recommend this place!
