After some difficult events and the devastation of the pandemic, the hostel sat unused for a while. It has opened again, and when I returned to Bali I was glad to see Dewa still following his passion and working to bring it back. I first stayed here seven years ago, and it remains one of my most memorable travel experiences. Dewa put his heart into designing the place, a work of art that took around four years to build. In the evenings we’d gather around a communal table made from an upcycled boat, while Dewa played guitar and we sang along. The location is amazing, and you’ll be well looked after. Give it a try!

I liked the hotel’s style and the staff, but bedbugs are a dealbreaker. I’ve got more than 80 bites and now have to deal with them in my clothes and luggage. Hopefully I can get rid of them. There was also some animal behind the bed. I could hear it moving around at night. It went for my cashew nuts but ate the package instead, luckily.

Bedbugs. Avoid this place. We stayed just one night, and I’m covered in bites. Staff were airing the mattresses and treating the walls with something when we arrived, so I think they know about the problem, but they don’t tell guests. They need to close for a few weeks and deal with it instead of letting unsuspecting customers stay in an infested hostel.

Really good value. The hostel is set back from the main road, so it’s quiet at night. It was clean, the rooms have AC, and the Wi-Fi worked well everywhere. Highly recommend.
